Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir

Coming to Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir feels a bit like arriving at a countryside manor. The setting by Lake Lagarfljót is simply stunning – tall trees, lush farmland all around, and yet just a short walk from the town center of Egilsstaðir.

The food presentation was beautiful, with colorful dishes decorated with local wildflowers – we spotted buttercups and Alpine blue-sow-thistles among them. It’s always a pleasure when restaurants make the effort to use local ingredients. At the hotel’s restaurant, aptly named Eldhúsið (“The Kitchen”), the beef comes from a nearby farm in Egilsstaðir, the wasabi is grown in Fellabær, and the quail eggs are from Seyðisfjörður – just to name a few.

Beautiful food, local ingredients, and a cozy lakeside atmosphere. A must-visit in Egilsstaðir!
