Hemp Milk – a Simple and Nutrient-Rich Plant-Based Milk
There was a time when most people in this country believed we simply couldn’t live without cow’s milk. The old idea that we must drink milk to get enough calcium no longer holds true. Today, we know that there are many excellent sources of calcium that are often better absorbed and gentler on the body than dairy milk.
On a recent grocery trip, I forgot to buy milk. Instead of going back out, I went online and discovered a recipe for hemp milk. It turned out to be wonderfully simple, delicious, and surprisingly nutritious.

What are hemp seeds?
Hemp seeds come from the Cannabis sativa plant – the same species used for cannabis production, but a completely different variety. Hemp seeds contain no intoxicating substances and have long been recognized as a safe and highly nutritious food.
Nutritional value of hemp seeds
Hemp seeds are a true nutritional powerhouse and contain, among other things:
✔️ All ten essential amino acids that the body cannot produce on its own
✔️ Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids in a well-balanced ratio
✔️ Magnesium, which supports muscle and nervous system function
✔️ Iron, zinc, and potassium, important for blood health, immunity, and fluid balance
Hemp milk is therefore an excellent option for those who want to reduce their dairy intake, are lactose intolerant, or simply want a more varied and natural diet.
