Linen / Bath towels
On the table in the walk-in closet (sheets in a box on the floor).
At the end of your stay, it would be much appreciated if you wash used towels using Strygelet (60 °C, 1400 rpm), and hang them up on the drying rack. It would also be nice if you could strip the bed and place the linens in the laundry basket in the walk-in closet, but only if you have time. We’ll wash them when we’re back.
Kitchen Instructions
Oven:
- To turn on, twist the left dial three clicks to the right, then use the right dial to set the temperature.
- Press OK twice until “PRE” appears.
- To turn off, rotate the left dial so the symbol points straight up.
Stove:
- Touch the On/Off button, then select the desired burner (“O.”).
- Slide your finger on the control bar underneath to set the heat level.
Water
Tap water is the same quality as bottled—no need to buy water, selling water in stores is a tourist trap.
Let the water in the kitchen sink run a few minutes before using it—it gets cold with a small amount of patience.
Dishwasher
- Rinse dishes well before loading.
- We mostly use Quick 30 min or Auto 50–65 °C settings.
- To start: add detergent (in the cabinet left of the pots), press On/Off, then choose the cycle.
- When finished: press On/Off and open the door.
Important: Do not use dishwashing liquid in the dishwasher.
Laundry
Washing machine (in bathroom):
- For general loads, we use Strygelet, selecting preferred temperature and spin.
- For light loads, use Express 20.
- Detergent pods are in the drawer beneath the sink—just toss one into the machine.
- Clothesline is outside behind the house (clothespins are in the washing basket upon the dryer in the bathroom); drying rack is in the walk‑in closet.
Dryer (in bathroom):
- Use Cottons setting.
- Press Dryness level twice (until the sun symbol appears).
- After use, empty the top‑left water tray into the sink, and clean the lint filter situated at the bottom of the opening.
Greenhouse
In the garden greenhouse, please help yourself to pick strawberries!
Trash & Recycling
- Bins under the sink: general waste, plastic, paper.
- Organic: recycling bag is on the table by the kettle.
- Trash bags in the second drawer in the second row from the fridge.
- Garbage cans outside (on your right when you walk out):
- Left bin: organic & general waste
- Right bin: plastic & paper
Cleaning
- Vacuum cleaners: main one in the walk‑in closet; small one in the window by the piano.
- Table and dish cloths are in the bottom drawer next to the fridge.
- For mopping: dry mop and blue mop (spray‑type) in the kitchen.
Television
- Turn on with the white remote, top‑left button (may need double‑press).
- If “No Signal” appears: press once the top‑right button on the grey remote.
- To turn off: hold the top‑left button on the white remote for several seconds.
Local Amenities & Transport
- Pool: Grafarvogslaug, a 7–10 min walk—check Google Maps.
